Life Teaches..

Life always has lessons reserved for us as every hour passes by. So, there is a need to be sensitive to hear its schooling, you just might never come across such messages. And often times, such messages are just for you, and few times you share with others (just like i'm sharing with you). Enjoy...

November- My Camp Dairy

In November 2012, i started my National Youth Service Corp; I was deployed to Jigawa State, Nigeria. NYSC Orientation camp in Fanisau, Jigawa State was a very lovely place. I had beautiful, exciting and quiet provoking experiences. Something happened in d female hostel one day,and i learnt greatly.
We had water challenges in camp(as it applies to all camps in Nigeria) so we had to wait on a long queue, while waiting for my turn,d lady behind me asked me to watch ova her bucket & she left without mentioning her name or hostel, and d sign on d bucket wasn't clear. So,at that moment i had a task of watching over a bucket. Not long after she left,d water seized flowing,i waited for her but she was no where to be found. So,i resolved to go to another tap in another block along with her bucket of which i still preserved a space for her (and i was still looking for her). But not long, the soldiers,in their usual way, came chasing us out for evening parade,i even got injured in d process of escaping d soldiers, and i tried waiting a little bit longer;dis i did hoping that she'll come around, unfortunately, her absence was all i saw. Now,i was confused;do i take her bucket wit me,then search for her later on, or do i leave it behind? (but if i leave it,anyone could take it,then what would i say if she sees me?). I finally decided to keep it safe wit me, and i ran out to avoid bin lashed by the soldiers.
At around 7:30pm,after the day's task, a lady needed a bucket to wash,so i gave her my "assigned bucket". While outside, the owner saw her and they both came to my room to confirm ownership. Immediately i saw her,i was glad  and i said "Yes,its you. I was looking for you",i had not finished my statement when she said "sister, you suffered me today". I was shocked as i expected a 'thank u'. I tried replying and i said "i searched and waited for you till d soldiers came", and she shut me up wit a rude "thank you",and walked out. I was still standing in shock when a room mate mockingly said.."who be d good Samaritan? U don learn ba?", and unconsciously,i said "Yes, i don learn". While my room mates were discussing the matter, and people were taking sides, a lady just said calmly..."please,don't stop doing good". That statement was like a blow, and she was right.
Should i loose my 'God-nature' of doing what's right simply cos a lady didn't see it as a favour or cos a lady didn't appreciate me? My life is 4 Jesus anytime, anywhere, under any condition; a situation as 'tiny' as dis shouldn't refrain me form doing what's right. If i do,what would be my testimony? What would my Father say of me?
My story is very minute (and i know) compared to what you've faced or what you're facing, but can you please take time to ask yourself the questions i asked myself. D truth is that it hurts not to be appreciated; its too much of a bitter pill to swallow, but is it worth your eternal joy? Should you stop doing what your spirit (God's spirit) says is right cos some persons where not reasonable enough to appreciate your efforts?
You know, we've done worse to Jesus, but that didn't keep him from paying my debts and your debts. Keep doing what's right. Let Christ live thru u.
